Peated ("the app", "we", "us") is a whisky journaling app developed by Glowing Galaxy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
By using Peated, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from those services. We store this in Firebase Authentication and your Firestore user record to identify your account and associate your collection with you.
Whiskey collection data. Everything you add to Peated (bottle names, distilleries, ratings, tasting notes, flavor tags, ABV, age statements, and any other details you enter) is stored in your private Firestore collection. This data is accessible by you and any friends you connect with inside the app.
Wishlist data. If you use the wishlist feature (Peated Premium), bottles you add to your wishlist are stored in your Firestore account. Friends you connect with can view your wishlist.
Inventory data. If you use the shelf inventory feature (Peated Premium), your inventory status for each bottle (whether it is currently on your shelf) is stored as part of your whiskey collection data in Firestore. Friends you connect with can view your inventory.
Bottle photos. Photos you take or upload for bottle entries are stored in Firebase Storage under your user account. Photos are compressed on your device before upload. They are accessible by you and any friends you connect with inside the app.
Social data. When you use Peated's social features, we store your friend connections, friend requests, display name, and any block or report actions you take. Block and report records are stored to enforce safety and are not visible to other users. You can disable discovery in your settings to prevent other users from finding your account or sending you friend requests.
Bottle label images for scanning. When you use the bottle scanner (Peated Premium), an image of the label is sent to a Google Cloud Function for label recognition. The image is not stored by us after processing. It exists only for the duration of the API call.
Usage and crash data. We use Firebase's built-in services which may collect anonymous usage data and crash reports to help us improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.
Peated requests access to your camera and photo library solely for the purpose of adding bottle photos to your collection entries and for the bottle label scanner. We do not access your camera or photos for any other purpose, and we never upload images without your explicit action.
On macOS, only photo library access is available (no camera). Camera access is used on iOS only.
We do not use your data for advertising. Peated contains no ads.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party.

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account from within the app, all your data (including your collection, tasting notes, and photos) is permanently deleted from our systems. This action cannot be undone.
Your data is protected by Firebase Security Rules which ensure only you can read or write your own collection. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We use Firebase App Check to verify that API requests originate from the genuine Peated app.
Peated is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
